my grandma leeflang passed away the night before easter, making easter extra special this year. i am thankful i was able to go and say goodbye to her before she passed. what an amazing person. i'm so happy for her to be reunited with my grandpa and her son pieter who died as a baby. my grandma was such a good example to me. she was so kind and genuine, i hope to be more like her. i was sad that we missed her funeral since we already had our trip to mexico planned and there wasn't any way to change it. i wish i could have seen my extended family. it's been a long time, probably since my grandpa's funeral over 5 years ago.
Bastianntje (Jeanne) DyKgraaf LeeflangBastianntje, better known as Sjaan, Jeanne, or Jean Leeflang, in the presence of family, passed on April 7. She was grateful for everything-even the smallest, simplest things. Gratitude always graced her life. Her faith gave her an optimism that others could gather strength from.
She grew old gracefully and effused happiness in her old age. She constantly talked about how pleased she was with her very large family. She is now reunited with her husband Arie, son Pieter, a loving grandfather Bartus Looren deJong, and many others in the extension of this earthly life.
All family members would like to express a special thanks to the staff at Canyon Creek Memory Care Center and Hospice for the exceptional loving care given to our mother.
Bastianntje (Jeanne) is survived by her sons, Bert (Debi), Bill (Kathy), Bart (Sue), Joe; daughters, Jeanne (Dave) McDonald, Rebecka (Randy) Memmott, Pam (David) Kramer, Patricia (Paul) Milbury, Lia (Greg) Peterson; 40 grandchildren; and 45 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, April 14, 2012 at 12 Noon at the East Mill Creek 9th Ward, 3750 South Hillside Lane (2600 East), where friends and family can visit from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. prior to the service.
