a new desire

i recently returned from a wonderful trip home to utah. i always feel so rejuvenated when i'm there, and in the past when i've come back to my 'other' home i fall into a funk. this trip was different and one day i'll get around to posting pictures of all the fun things i was able to do! i had a wake up call while i was there. i had been spending way too much time on my etsy shop. many other aspects of my life were starting to fall apart. i don't want to stop what i'm doing because i'm having so much fun doing something for myself, but i do need to find a better balance in my life.

i've been reading this blog, Bloom, for a while and let's just say that i love it. one of the posts that was recently written really struck home [she was speaking to me!]. this gal is trying to find a balance in her own life. spiritually, mentally, physically, etc. some of her posts combined with talks given at the most recent General Conference have really inspired me to get my act together. instead of just thinking and talking about the things i want to change i have actually started acting upon those goals.

first - getting my rear out of bed in the morning. i'm not a morning person AT ALL! it's painful, but hopefully over time it will get a little easier. and this means going to bed earlier. turning the tube off, the computer off, and just going to bed.

second - reading the scriptures and working on strengthening my own spirituality and testimony.

third - exercising. i was doing so well and then like i said i came home from utah after christmas and lost all desire. it's now been 4 months and i'm ready to get back into shape not just for myself, but for my kids (and matt). i want [and need] to have more energy and this will only come by exercising more regularly and...

fourth - making a more conscious effort to eat healthier.

fifth - just being a better mom and person in general.

it feels good to get this off of my chest. i'm hoping that by writing these goals down and posting it on the web i'll feel more accountability to myself.

wish me luck!

Joanna- I feel the same way about that post on Bloom. It's been percolating in my head, too. Good for you for committing to it!
