i began to play or in other words starting ripping things apart in the kitchen and kids bathroom! matt was in dallas for some training last week and i was on my own. it leads to trouble people! i decided that i was going to start working on the kids bathroom which is also the last bathroom we need to remodel. my mom was so nice and "kilzed" the walls so I could paint. i started working on the vanity and ripping out old molding, etc. it's coming along quite nicely if I do say so. although, i don't think matt was as excited about all the progress i had made as i was. that's ok, now it's time for him to start working, i've done all i can do up to this point, so i don't blame him. as for the kitchen i was so sick of the weird cabinets in the corner and all of the counter space that was being wasted that i wanted to see if i could rip them out. the first one came out surprisingly easy, the second was a bit tougher because i had to remove an electrical box. this was not a huge deal, but let me tell you it was so worth it. i feel like my kitchen is twice as big because of all the extra work space i have. scroll down on this old post to see what it used to look like.
ahhh... room to cook, it's been heavenly! i also decided to start painting the pantry doors white. they look so much better. after my sister in law's baby shower i'm going to start working on painting the rest of the cabinets and putting on new knobs. hopefully a major change in our kitchen is about to occur.
people keep asking me where i get the energy. i really don't know. it came out of nowhere, i stayed up way too late, way too many nights and then matt came home and i crashed! the burst of energy left and i'm dreading the 1/2 box of bananas that i have that still need to be made into banana bread (it cost me $2.50 for 6 bunches... how could i refuse)! they'll probably end up in the freezer for smoothies. i think the burst of energy has to do with the baby and me wanting to finish up all of these projects before the end of summer. besides, i enjoy house projects, the whole thing... dreaming and actually doing the work!

Love the extra counter space! I HATE having things on my counter. Way to be ambitious!
It's looking so good! I'm glad you had the energy for that project, Joanna! What about the other side of the kitchen? Do you still have stove elements on the other side for cooking?
You're amazing.
You are amazing. I love that you did that all on your own. Super woman!
