finally some house pictures! part A...

be prepared for a lot of pictures. here are pictures of most of the main floor. i'm still waiting on two light fixtures to come in then i'll post pictures of the powder/guest bath and eating area. i feel like this has been a long time coming. we're definitely not done by a long shot, but we're at a good stopping point. summer is coming and we need to start working outside, plus it's time to start playing again!

SO...

WELCOME TO OUR HOUSE! this is the front entry. i'm disappointed i don't have a before shot of the area. we changed out the door, added moulding, and painted. it was some pretty crazy pink and blue striped wallpaper!
formal living room. need i say anymore?!?

looking from the formal into the front entry.

i feel like i have to explain myself on this one. yes, we still have pink carpet in this room as well as the office. we don't' know if we're going to re-carpet or put in hardwood. so, no sense in wasting the money. besides it's in great shape! the orange chairs were left by the previous owners. i truly love them, but they don't match anything else in my house. so, they're here for now so at least there is a place to sit.

look how different my paint looks in the different lighting. it's all painted the same nomadic desert by sherwin williams. i loved it so much in my last house and didn't feel like i really got to enjoy it, so i used it again!

isn't the kitchen a beauty! gotta love the cracked counter. i only took off wallpaper and painted in the kitchen. we did replace most of the windows in the house in december. we replaced all of the dangerous ones that were falling out. we need to finish up the rest. i have to laugh at our dollar window coverings on our very nice and new windows. it works though, right?!?

i am in LOVE with this blue from restoration hardware. it's their light silver sage. i used the silver sage in my old house, but it was much more green. i loved this blue so much i used it in the master bath as well. i'm not quite gutsy enough to paint the entire house that color though (at least not yet!). besides i'd have to re-decorate everything and that ain't happening any time soon!

here is the formal dining room that we converted into our office. we didn't have a dining room set and we needed to move the office up from the basement so could have a bedroom down there for the renters. this room was kind of (a gigantic) pain. they wallpapered the ceiling and it was just a mess. we ended up texturing the angle so it would flow better. we also added the french doors. it looks really nice from the entry. eventually we might close off the opening into the kitchen or at least put a door on for more privacy. the previous owners left all of the furniture in here. the desk and two wingback chairs. not my favorite fabric choice, but the chairs are absolutely great! hopefully we can recover them one day.

i tried to decorate with a travel theme in here.

ahhh.... the family room!!! so glad the work on this room is coming to a close. this and the master are the only two rooms in the house without wallpaper. but, they were still oil base so i still had to do a coat of kilz plus do the two coats.

the problem i've found with decorating our new house is that the walls are so huge. i don't have decorations big enough. so i've improvised with lots of help from my mom. she's spent many hours here helping me decorate and hang pictures. the quilt is probably only up temporarily until i can find something else big enough to fill the space. who knows though, it's very cheery and it makes me happy so i may keep it up. (this is the quilt i made last summer in my sewing class that sara put on, i love it!)

one of my favorite things in the house are the huge windows in all of the rooms. anyone who knows me, knows how much i love and value natural light. i really think this is why i struggled so much in seattle.

here is the master bedroom. i left this room for last because we really didn't need it. when i found out that matt's parents were coming into town i really wanted to finish this room so we could move downstairs and they could have their own bedroom and bath upstairs. it was the perfect excuse to get it done. i'm so happy we did. i love having the space, a new(er) bath and huge closet! this room was definitely the most used and lived in. it needed a lot of work. more than i anticipated.

hooray! aren't the windows awesome. they overlook the backyard. i love it!

the bathroom had the coolest lights for sure. we're not ready to do counters yet and i didn't want to replace the cabinet so i just painted it and put on new knobs. i love how it turned out. we ripped out the nasty pink carpet in here and put in new flooring/moulding and toilet. the shower had gross metal, sliding doors so we took those off and i got the cutest red damask shower curtain. i love it with the blue walls!

so happy with the results!

did you really make it this far! just wait until part B... hahaha!
